On November 17th, 2016, The Seattle Chinese Garden was honored to receive a $72,000 donation presented by former Washington State Governor Christine Gregoire and former Washington State Governor, US Secretary of Commerce and US ambassador to China, Gary Locke. The donation to The Garden was made by the organizing team that helped host
President Xi Jinping's visit to Seattle in September 2015. Money raised from the effort was donated to three prominent Seattle Chinese associations: The Wing Luke Museum, Kin On Community Healthcare and The Seattle Chinese Garden. Each organization received $72,000.
The Garden will use the funds to support ongoing programs, operations, and help build capacity for our next capital campaign. What a thrill it is to be recognized so generously by such esteemed leaders! Thank you Gary, Christine and Xi Jinping.
